Windshield Battles is a Windshield Protection Films Competition that features a two-person team installing Bray Super Stretch Windshield Skin windshield protection film in a classic Team vs Team Battle! 

Team Structure: Competitors will consist of two-person teams facing off against each other.

Competition Vehicle: Tesla Model 3 Windshield

Objective: Install Bray Windshield Skin Protection Film on windshield before the opposing team while adhering to the specified criteria.

 Judging Criteria: The first team to produce a passable installation, as judged and approved by the designated referee/judges, will be declared the winner of the round.

Qualification Process:

Day 1, Day 2: Teams will audition for the competition by showcasing their skills in installing Bray Super Stretch Windshield Skin Protection Film on Day 1 & Day 2. The fastest entries of Day 1 & Day 2 will BATTLE in the FINALS on Day 3.

Day 3: Advancing Competitors will CLASH on the 3rd Day in an elimination series BATTLE! Teams compete on a first drawn basis with the winning team of each round defending until defeat or total victory!

What is  Bray Super Stretch Windshield Skin?

According to EPD, "Bray Super Stretch Windshield Skin is an optically clear, peel away film that is installed on the outside of a windshield to help protect it from cracking or breaking from road debris, saving the vehicle owner the hassle and inconvenience of windshield replacement. In other words, it’s like PPF for glass, and just as profitable too!

 

The profit story for the tint shop is incredible. The average retail price to your customer is $500 per windshield. The average cost of film material per windshield is $200. The average installation time is 20 minutes per windshield. That’s a profit of $900 per hour!

 

The market for windshield protection film is growing as the product is not just for exotic vehicles anymore. That’s because advanced driver assistance systems, such as lane departure warning, collision avoidance, and autopilot, often rely on technology incorporated in the windshield to function. These windshields are expensive to replace and often require a trip to the dealership for recalibration of the onboard systems. Additional Judging Criteria:

 

• 10-minute time limit for teams to prep and complete installation.
• Exceeding time limit will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

• Overstretching: Super Stretch Windshield Skin is not supposed to be stretched like a PPF. It has stretchable properties but should not be pulled beyond windshield. General rule for identifying overstretching is seeing distortion spots on film.
• Overstretching cannot be fixed and will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

• Creases
• Creases cannot be fixed and will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

• Moisture

 

• Fingers

 

• Final Cut - Straight vs Crooked and 1/8" from the edge of the glass and no more than 1/4" from edge.
• Outside of these parameters will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

• Contamination: Some contamination could be fixable therefore may not be an automatic disqualification.

 

• Dry silvering pockets from not enough slip.
• Dry silvering pockets cannot be fixed and will lead to automatic disqualification.

 

AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFIERS

1. Exceeding 10 minutes for prep & install.
2. Overstretching: Identifying overstretching is seeing distortion spots in the film. It is not to be stretched like PPF. It has stretchable properties but should not be pulled beyond the windshield.
3. Exceeding parameters 1/8” from glass edge and no more than 1/4”
4. Creases in the film.
5. Dry silvering pockets from not enough slip.
